An iconic Danish designer

The Annelise Bjørner door handle is an iconic, Danish design product. The door handle was created in 1972, but it was originally designed as a part of Bjørner's educational program at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture. The purpose of the handle was to express its function in an elegant and classic form, which was carried by a combination of well-defined curves and straight lines.

Annelise Bjørner graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1957 and has ever since designed a multitude of design furniture and jewelry. In 1968 she received the recognized Eckersberg Medal, which was also received by designers such as Arne Jacobsen. From 1971 to 2003 Annelise Bjørner worked as a designer for Georg Jensen.
